nth is quickly upon us. August is Membership and New Club Development Month and as some of you in the district have heard membership is one of my areas of focus for the coming Rotary year. Rotary is a membership organization. That means that the unique skills and contributions of our members are the driving force behind everything we do. To accomplish everything we want to do, we need our club, district, and zone leaders to commit to growing Rotary and Rotaract. That’s why growing our membership is one of our top priorities.
The month of July started out roughly, with the death of my sister, but since then visiting clubs has been a wonderful experience. Since starting my district governor journey, I have been blessed to have tremendous support and I want to give the same support to each and every club in our district. The Rotary club is the foundation of our organization and like a house if the foundation crumbles so goes the house. In the coming months, the district will be putting together a toolbox to assist clubs in attracting new members.
In the fall the district is planning on holding One Summit (formerly known as One Rotary Summit). One Summit shows how the Rotary Action Plan can enhancement member engagement through membership, foundation and public image.
Here is a brief summary of the Rotary Action Plan:
People of Action know that achieving any vision, big or small, requires a plan.
We pioneered a model of service leadership more than a century ago based on person-to-person connections. That model is just as powerful today as ever. Except now, those individual connections span the globe. Today's Rotary doesn't just reach out to act on communities' needs close to home; we transcend borders, generations, languages, cultures, and historic differences to create hope for a better world.
When we imagined where Rotary is going in the next 100 years, we developed a plan built on four priorities:
1. increasing our impact
2. expanding our reach
3. enhancing participant engagement
4. increasing our ability to adapt
Ann & I are looking forward to working with every member & club to continue growing Rotary.
