Environmental Action Committee Home Page

Greetings my fellow Rotarians of the district
Welcome to the District 7120 Environmental Action Committee. As the chair of this committee, I am looking forward to growing the club representation as well as our Public Image. We want to show off all the clubs in the district in their environmentally conscious projects not to just fellow Rotarians but to the public as well. We would love to hear about any projects that you are doing, planning or have done that is environmentally friendly.
As a committee we meet via zoom once a month on a varied date, and every other month we will be having a presentation on an environmental project. We would very much enjoy the pleasure of your company as a representative of your club. Also, we encourage each club to create the position of an Environmental Officer to help promote, plan, execute and publicize your projects.
Our committee is hosting a Facebook page to highlight these projects (District 7120 Environmental action Committee). Odds are good that we followed your club and would love it if you could follow us back. We plan to use the space for highlighting club and district projects to everyone. If you send the information, or perhaps you need some help, I will gladly post everything (please maintain RI standards and rules regarding photos and such), and remember action shots are best.
Here are just a few ideas of easy and painless things that your club can do:
1.Tree plantings
2.Polinator native species garden
Both look awesome next to Peace Poles
3. Park, trail, beach clean ups
4. Encourage an elementary school program to plant and study a native meadow
5. Encourage some scouts to build beneficial insect hotels
6. Encourage your town/village to set up a lawn waste composting program
7. Do you sponsor an Interact club? They love projects like these
Please do not let these be the only ideas. Your own creativity and ideas are always great no matter how big or small.
If you have any questions, comments, concerns or need information, even help, please feel free to reach out to me at the below email.
Thank you for granting us this time to introduce ourselves.
Yours in Rotary Service,
Donald Shaw
