Rotary District 7120 Interact News January 2026 

 Happy New Year! 

Hard to believe half this Rotary year is over.  I know your Interact clubs have already accomplished a lot this first half year and will do many great things in the Winter/Spring.  Please celebrate these accomplishments and advertise in the Grapevine and 7120 Rotary Facebook page (Has to be sent to Linda Kohl) or Interact District 7120 Public Facebook page send to Drew Ashley at andreww.ashley@gmail.com 

We are progressing at getting Interact Advisors contact information to Rotary International and have nearly half the Active Interact clubs shown with Interact Advisors.  We still have many active Interact Clubs that have been terminated by RI for not letting them know who your Interact Advisor is and their contact information.  The RI status report is accessible in number 4c below (Please check your club for status).  It is important for Interact clubs to show Active with RI both, so they receive current information and liability insurance for their service projects and fundraisers.  They also should not use the Rotary name “Interact” without being an Active Chartered club.  I believe more than half of the 58 terminated Interact clubs are still active running clubs. 

  1. District Learning Assembly: Saturday, April 11th at Waterloo High School. There will be three Interact sessions, one for current Interact Advisors, and we will cover Interact Advisor roles and how to access Interact related training in the Rotary Learning Center.  The other two to go over general questions anyone may have and to talk about Interact in general. Hopefully some sharing on accomplishments.  We would love to have Interact student members join you and share as that would add value to the session.  They could attend the first session as well, as there is training in the learning center for them.  More information to come with future newsletters. 

  1. Interact Elections: Time to think about next year's elections for Interact Officers.  Please have your next Interact year's team transition with the current team of Officers and Committee Chairs for smooth transition and greatest success. 

  1. RYLA 2026: Consider sending one of your next Interact years Officers to RYLA (Hopefully President-Elect) This will give them a great base to lead your Interact club in the next Rotary/Interact year.  Dates are July 12th–16th, 2026.  Applications due by May 15th. Another reason to hold elections early.  More information at https://rotary7120.org/sitepage/ryla-1/ryla    

  1. Rechartering Active, Terminated Interact Clubs with RI / Updating Active Interact Club Avisors with RI and 7120 District Interact: Thank you for your progress in rechartering Active Interact Clubs that were Terminated by Rotary International for not updating their Interact Advisor yearly.   

  1. Then current Active Interact Clubs, please update your Interact Advisor yearly in July - September using this online form.  https://my.rotary.org/en/report-your-interact-club-advisor  14 Active Interact Clubs have yet to update their Interact Advisor.   

  1. To check your Interact Clubs status (please check your existing Interact Club shows Active and if an Interact Advisor has been updated), please visit https://rotary7120.org/sitepage/interact  Scroll down to Files on the left-hand side and select 7120 Interact Club Status (You will need a Clubrunner login to view this page as it has Rotarians contact information).  

  1. Please also send Advisor contact information to District 7120 Interact at  andreww.ashley@gmail.com This is so we can keep you informed of information about Interact and send updates from Rotary International. 

  1. Interact Student/Advisor Learning Opportunities Rotary Learning Center: Service- Learning Manuals for Interactors and Advisors are available.  This gives Interactors a guide to learning about Service Projects and Service in their Communities and Worldwide.  Students16 and above and Non-Rotary Advisors can sign up for a My Rotary account https://my.rotary.org/ (Information is not saved by RI after registration if they are under 18).  Once signed in, Advisors and Interactors can go to this link for online training and handbooks.   

  1. Interactors also have their own version of the Interact Handbook https://my.rotary.org/en/document/interact-handbook-guide-for-interactors
